November Reflection

After knowing the impact of childrens learning with and without ICT,i thought i should teach my children how to make use of ict in their day to day life so that my children will get extra information about the topic they are learning from the net. Then i decided to teach them how to search information using google,youtube and pinterest. So that i can assign some work in the wechat group and let them do by finding the information form web and do while they are at home during their winter holidays. So I took my children to the ICT lab and taught them first, later i ask them to findout themself listening to my insturction. Instruction Given: 1. Go to Google

2. Type" Verbs" and enter

3. Read the words given on the page.

With this type of opportunities, children learns a lot of things. Firstly, they learnt how to handle the computer. Then they also experienced typing, and then they got to learn how they can get information about what they want to learn. Children were given enough time to explore and learn by themselves. My children really enjoyed the activity and i told i will assign some work during their winter holidays. They were so excited.

October Reflection

Let me beriefly share the about the previous reflection.Teaching words (blending,diagraph) using ict is really effective. Children could read most of the words well. They are now reading more books. This time i have prepared power point presentation on Strategies to help childtren read independently. Actually i wanted to use projector to present the presentation to the children but unluckly there was no electricity that day. So i did the presentation using my laptop. I explined each strategies to the children and did demonstration. After the demnostration we did a sample reading to see if the strategies goes well while reading. Everything went well as per my plan. And i could see children using strategies to read. They are really trying hard to read independenlty.

September Reflection

A lesson with video tutorial I have planned this lesson with a video tutorial on sound "oi" and 'oy". I have already taught some similar sounds "ow and "aw" sounds. I gave lots of activities to give hand on practice. Many of my children could do the given activities well. But there is a group of children who can learn with difficulties. so I planned to teach "oi" and "oy" using different strategy. I planned to use ICT in teaching this lesson to findout the difference in children's learning. So I came up with this video tutorial. In this lesson ,first i will let my children watch the video. Then,they are going to watch the video for second time and I will let them read along with the video.Next,they are going to watch the video for the the third time and do the activities together with the tutorial. Finally, watch the video once again and do their own correction. To find out the difference in learning of my children with and without using ict, i planned use this video tutorial. August Reflection

Smart Phone as my remedial and assessment tool This time I have come up with use of my smart phone as remedial and assessment tool. I use to go to the class and teach as usual everyday. But most of the time the bell rings before I could complete my activity in the class. Keeping them behind to take extra class is not possible since they are all small to have patience to wait for another class. So, I gave my children to do their activity at home. I send the video clips, writing and reading materials in our class wechat group. When children reach home they will do the work according to my instruction. Then they will send their work to me in the personal wechat. I will check the work immedietly and correct the mistake and let them do again be it reading,writing or speaking. I do this in personal chat to avoid unnecessary issues. But its aganin challenging for me because there are some children who dont hae smart phone. For those childern I write it in their homework book and send them. Next day i check their work during free time. This way i can save my time, do assessment on time and also i can keep my children engaged. I have uploaded some random sample images and videos of my children.

August Reflection

 Plan using ICT

It is important to acknowledge that students are already interested and engaged in using technology, this creates many amazing opportunities for schools and teachers to benefit from integrating some forms of technology in the classroom and to make teaching and learning more effective. As such I always take chance to bring some interesting lesson to my class to make my children learn more effectively and joyfully. One such activity I prepared is a listening activity (audio).

I selected a song for my children of their level. Played the song and let children sing the song till they are familiar. I provided different cut out colours to the children .Then let children show the colour as they sing along.

This task using ICT  helped me to lighter my workload while preparing my lesson.  It also made my teaching enjoyable and effective.
